Nestpick, an online housing platform based in Berlin, conducted a study ranking the top vegetarian cities in the world, and we are beyond thrilled to share that Chiang Mai and Bangkok made the cut! Although, with the recent surge of vegan and vegetarian restaurants in these two cities, we cannot say that we are surprised.

The study ranked cities based on three brackets, including the affordability of products, the number of vegetarian-friendly restaurants and their price levels, and veggie-related events.

Out of 75 cities that were shortlisted out of 200, Chiang Mai ranks 36th and Thailand’s capital ranks 73rd on a global Vegetarian Cities index. London, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, and Glasgow ranked top five in the index. Chiang Mai is the highest-ranked Asian city on the list, and apart from these two Thai cities, there were seven other Asian cities on the index.

That’s not it for the good news – Chiang Mai and Bangkok also rank within the top three for cities with the most affordable vegetarian restaurants, with the Jewel of the North ranking 1st and Bangkok ranking 3rd. I guess this means we owe an expression of gratitude to these eateries out there. So, thank you on behalf of us vegetarians, the animals of the world, and of course, the environment!
