MEHNDI

Named after the henna dye used to create body art, the mehndi is a colourful and festive celebration of the bride, where the cooling mehndi is applied to her hands and feet to release all her worries and cares. Traditionally attended by the closest women in her life, any blushing bride can enjoy all things feminine with a magical mehndi ceremony in the intimate and artistic Galerie space tucked next to the Solarium Pool, which can fit around 50 guests; or with the backdrop of the ocean on the Beach Lawn, which can comfortably host up to 150 guests. With enough space to fit a stage for some glamorous entertainment.

POOL PARTY

Make a splash with your pool party at any of our pools, which can be uniquely decorated in a variety of enchanting ways. Our SO Pool, which can host 150 guests cocktail style, can be merged with the White Oven restaurant terrace, so that the drinks, food, and good times can keep flowing. With plenty of spaces for cabanas, guests can refresh themselves in the shade, or enjoy our range of pool equipment for a splashing good time. For more intimate events, our adult-only Solarium Pool connects to our Galerie space, perfect for live stations; or choose our Signature Pool, which holds up to 200 guests and merges with our Rabbit Lawn for those who want to take advantage of our whimsical wonderland.

PUJAS

Every Indian ceremony involves several prayers and rituals called pujas, each with their own meaning and purpose. Pujas mark the start of the week-long celebrations and are opportunities for guests to interact with the happy couple in an intimate setting. At SO Sofitel Hua Hin, the resort offers several venues fit for memorable pujas with loved ones. The first, the Galerie is a multi-function area located next to the Solarium Pool that has floor-to-ceiling windows to create a seamless indoor-to-outdoor flow for guests who would like to give their blessings. The resort also boasts three poolside areas that can provide settings fit for relaxed, day-time pujas. For rituals requiring an extended guest list, the resort’s various lawns can fit upwards of 100 guests and can be adjusted to suit the ceremony at hand.

HALDI

One of the most memorable events of any Indian wedding, the haldi ceremony sees family and friends gather to bless the couple ahead of the main mandap ceremony. A mixture of haldi (turmeric), milk, rose water, sandalwood, curd and other herbs are spread generously over the happy couple’s faces, arms, and legs and is believed to give them a wonderful glow during their wedding. For a memorable haldi, SO Sofitel Hua Hin has several indoor and outdoor venues to choose from, including the bright and airy poolside Galerie; the Solarium Pool or beachfront SO Pool, which allows you to combine the haldi with fun, pool party elements; and the resort’s three lawns encompassing the Signature, Beach, and Event Lawns, all of which can be adapted to fit the necessary décor.

SANGEET

No Indian wedding is complete without a sangeet, a dance party and welcome dinner that always starts the ceremonies off on the right foot. For an indoor affair, our SO Ballroom is equipped with cutting-edge audiovisual equipment, offering surround-sound beats to dance the night away. A beautiful, pillarless venue with floor-to-ceiling windows, the space can host 120 guests banquet style, and can be customised to create your dream dance hall. Or, choose to dance under the stars in our sprawling Signature Lawn where up to 350 guests can banquet in style; our versatile Event Lawn which can fit up to 250 guests; or on our Beach Lawn, which connects to the pool and can be designed to suit any themes you want for a magical night of fun and revelry.

AFTER PARTY

The party doesn’t stop after you say, “I Do”! Continue the revelry until the wee hours of the morning at the charming Galerie event space, which has easy access to the adults-only Solarium Pool, as well as the White Oven restaurant for your midnight catering needs.

For an event of up to 150 guests, cocktail style, the SO Ballroom is the perfect venue to host an entire night of dancing, drinks, and merrymaking, with its versatile space and cutting-edge sound equipment so the party doesn’t have to end even when the sun rises. BARAAT

A quintessential part of the festivities, the baraat is the groom’s processional entrance, one renowned for spectacle and merriment. Our cycling track, which runs along the length of the property, is perfect for a parade of 100-150 participants, replete with live music, dancing, and an eye-catching vehicle to carry the groom in – from the more traditional white horse or elephant, or a tuk-tuk for some Thai flair. Enjoy good beats and good vibes all the way past the whimsical Arrival Lawn and the iconic statue of Mr. Suksabai, and up the sweeping marble staircase up to the lobby, which can be decorated with bespoke designs for maximum impact.

MANDAP CEREMONY

The main event of an Indian wedding, the mandap ceremony is a true spectacle. It begins after the groom’s Baraat with the Kanya Aagman, which sees the bride arrive to the mandap alongside her family in an emotional procession. What follows is the Jai Mala, an indispensable part of the ceremony where the bride and groom exchange floral garlands to show their love and acceptance for one another. The ceremony then concludes with the landmark Phera where the couple circles around a holy fire while repeating their vows in a final ritual that binds together the two individuals for life. As the most important part of the wedding, the mandap ceremony requires a beautiful setup and backdrop to make it even more magical. At SO Sofitel Hua Hin, couples have a wide-range of choice as to where they want to place their mandap.

For an indoor ceremony complemented by a full-audio visual setup, the pillarless SO Ballroom is
a versatile venue complete with towering windows that can fit up to 150 guests. For an outdoor ceremony, the stunning SO Evolution Pond reflects the sky above and is framed by trees for the perfect photo opportunity; the Signature Lawn can host up to 500 guests and has enough room to get ultra-creative with your mandap design; and the Beach and Event Lawn that merge with the beachfront offer spectacular ocean views for the perfect wedding backdrop.

DINNER RECEPTION

After your wedding ceremony, host a glamorous dinner reception at the contemporary SO Ballroom, which provides 200sqm of multipurpose space and can host up to 150 of your guests, banquet-style. Well-equipped with AV equipment and smart solutions, you can be assured that the entertainment will be both spectacular and seamless. For a more extensive venue, opt for our Signature Lawn which can hold an opulent banquet under the night sky for 350 guests. For more al fresco options, our Event Lawn can hold up to 250 guests; or bask in the sea breeze at our Beach Lawn, which has a capacity of up to 150 guests.
