There’s a particular fatigue that comes with loving food while navigating a list of what you can’t have. Whether it’s ethical, spiritual, or firmly rooted in health, the search often feels narrower than it should, especially when “healthy” too often translates to something dense or lacking in flavour.
In Bangkok, that gap has been slowly closing, but not every spot truly understands that nourishment and pleasure are not mutually exclusive. Tucked into Thonglor Soi 13, Cacao & Love is changing that narrative.
What began as a passion project by self-taught baker Anisha Sinchawla has grown from a made-to-order cloud kitchen into a permanent, sunlit address. Here, pastries hold their soft crumb, and the menu stretches from body-conscious desserts to savoury plates, all built on whole, thoughtful ingredients that feel as good as they taste.
As you step in, you’re met with powder pink walls that set the tone straight away. A hand-painted floral mural greets you with the words “The secret ingredient is always love,” which feels on brand and naturally doubles as a corner for photos with the bunch.
By the entrance, shelves are lined with candles and teas from local makers, with a few books tucked in for when you forget your own. Benches run along one side for a quick pick-me-up, while the marble counter keeps things centred, sitting right next to a glossy glass display filled with pastries that are hard to ignore.
Toward the back, there’s a small, tucked-away corner reserved for workshops, adding a more communal layer to the space.
Ideal for those looking for a healthier take on brunch classics, desserts, and drinks without compromising flavour. With sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, paleo, and keto options, there’s something here for everyone, even if you’re not following a specific diet.
The space has enough seating and an easy feel that suits passers-by, remote workers, or a quick meal between plans. It’s just as fitting for families and friends as it is for couples or a solo date with a coffee in hand.
And if you’re coming in with a group, the workshops at the back add a more hands-on element, though do book ahead.
They say smoothies are the new mimosas at brunch. To that, we say… No thank you, but they might be the new coffees.
Popularised by Erewhon and Hailey Bieber, the smoothie can be a filling breakfast on-the-go. The choices at Cacao & Love are each better than the last, and we had a chance to sample two of the superfood smoothies.
The Healthy Date Strawberry (THB 200), consisting of strawberries, bananas, dates, oat milk, acai, sea buckthorn, and mixed berry sauce, was sweet and thick in its consistency, tasting exactly like a strawberry muffin. Betty Beet (THB 200), in contrast, was a blend of beetroot, dragon fruit, blueberry, flax seed, camu camu, and acai, really put the “super” in superfood.
If green tea is more your speed, try the Iced Matcha Latte (THB 160), creamy and umami, without that faint grassy mouth-feel.
Our mains were a mix of yoghurt bowls, refreshing in this Bangkok humidity, and breads—though maybe not in the way you’d expect. Both the Keto Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Bagel (THB 350) and the Keto Focaccia with Hummus and Olive Oil (THB 250) are made from almond and coconut flour and only have one to three grams of carbs!
The keto bagel is also packed full of protein with boiled duck eggs and cured salmon. An incredibly filling meal, it proved to be a great distinction from the Strawberry Peanut Butter Bowl (THB 400).
Maybe it was the combination of the strawberry jam and peanut butter but every bite of this chia pudding felt like biting into a PB&J sandwich. Despite the bursts of sweetness, we still had desserts to sample.
The carrot cake chunks finally came to fruition with a full slice of Carrot Cake (THB 200), each bite as warm and spicy as the last. The Red Velvet Cake (THB 200), like all the other desserts at Cacao & Love, was vegan and so moist that we wondered whether the cream cheese was even vegan.
Not to worry, the cream cheese was indeed vegan-certified. Our closer was the chewy and crispy Vegan Dubai Chocolate Mochi (THB 120), a short and sweet ending to a satisfying, health-forward meal.
The Carrot Cake Bowl (THB 400) is our definitive pick. It’s a masterclass in balance, featuring generous, aromatic chunks of their signature carrot cake nestled into a bed of velvety Greek yoghurt.
While the yoghurt provides a creamy canvas for the tartness of the passionfruit, the blueberries truly elevated the experience for us. Exceptionally fresh, sweet, and possessing that satisfying “pop” of a crisp skin.
It is an indulgent yet grounded bowl that proves you don’t have to choose between a nutrient-dense breakfast and decadent dessert.
