By Shaan Bajaj

NEW ROOFTOP BAR

LACOL Bangkok, a new luxury rooftop dining spot and bar, welcomes you to experience Bangkok’s skyline from the 30th floor of Staybridge Suites Bangkok Thonglor. The expansive space features Instagram-worthy glass pods to enjoy a private dinner, or a glass of wine with the sun setting behind you. The domes are decorated with pink roses and a candle chandelier, providing an intimate setting for any special occasion; but there are also plenty of other seating options to enjoy the view of the cityscape. Their food and mixology centres around highlighting premium ingredients and aromatic flavours.

NEW RAMEN SPOT

Chef Shin Inoue strikes again, this time with a casual ramen store, Shoyu Stand, located at J Avenue in Thonglor. In comparison to No Name Noodle, which is incredibly hard to get a spot at and weighs heavier on your pocket, Shoyu Stand is more affordable, while still featuring slurp-worthy ramen. The menu is small, listing three different options, including the much-hyped Cappuccino Noodles AWA (THB 280/350), made with futomen noodles in a thick, chicken-based soup, served warm. This Japanese style ramen spot consists of a small space covered with a curtain, much like the small eateries dotting the streets of Japan, and their kitchen features glass windows for you to look in as they cook. You can choose to eat there or take away. For more information, visit their Instagram: @the_shoyu_stand

NEW COFFEE ROASTER

Head to old town Bangkok to enjoy Tokyo’s longstanding, high-quality coffee roaster, ONIBUS COFFEE. What can café enthusiast expect from this Japanese-born coffee spot?Founded by Atsushi Sakao, who received his barista training in Australia, visitors can look forward to a coffee shop that focuses on quality, transparency, and community. Since its opening in 2012 in Tokyo, the brand has grown worldwide, with branches across Tokyo, Vietnam, and now Bangkok. They have a variety of imported beans to choose from, with hand drip and cold brew coffee. For more information, visit their Instagram: @onibuscoffee_bkk

NEW RESTAURANT

Hybrid Cuisine, if you couldn’t guess from the name, offers a fusion of Italian and Thai cuisine in one plate. It was conceptualised by Chef Yodying ‘Sasha’ Phoomcharoen, who uses local Thai ingredients and contemporary gastronomy techniques to offer a one-of-a-kind dining experience. The space is warm and inviting, and you can expect fine-dining dishes like Lobster hybrid, comprised of lightly-poached Canadian lobster served in a bisque with a tom yum bouquet. Chef Sasha’s menu aims to please your palate by inviting you to explore Italian and Thai flavours in a new light. Don’t forget to check out their wine list, featuring small production wines that are fun to sip on. For more information, visit their Instagram: @hybrid.cuisine.bkk
