Get an exclusive look at Nitasha Sivasiamphai’s playful sense of fashion.
By Christy Lau
As a designer of her own luxury jewellery line, Nitasha Sivasiamphai is someone who has a natural eye for fashion and pairing things together. Never afraid to try on new and bold outfits, Nitasha favours statement pieces that have a chic flair. Her looks range from smart and formal during the work week to bright and eye-catching for the weekends.
No matter what she wears, Nitasha makes sure to add dazzling pieces from her own jewellery line, because of course, no outfit is complete without an accessory or two. Her brand TASH Fine Jewelry not only features ready-made pieces, but custom-made trinkets as well, and uses only the finest gemstones, including rubies, emeralds and sapphires. When asked to describe her style, she says it is classic yet modern with an edgy twist. “The way I dress is the way I design my jewellery,” she explains. “The two go hand-in-hand. I feel like my fashion sense is quite eclectic, as I tend to mix it up according to my mood and agenda for the day.”
Having an 11-month-old son, her style has somewhat shifted to accommodate her new role as a mother. “I used to be a lot more carefree, but now I tend to wear more jeans and tops during the daytime,” she says. This fashionista also makes her own rules when it comes to her sartorial selections. “I don’t really follow trends and I’m quite experimental. I wear what makes me feel confident and suits my body frame. If you wear something that makes you feel good, then you are always going to look stylish.”
Although Nitasha doesn’t follow mainstream fashion, she does have one fashion icon that she admires. “I really like Sonam Kapoor’s style,” she says.”I like how she always surprises you with what she’s wearing. That’s what I try to do as well.” As for brands, she favours bebe, Max Mara, and River Island for clothes, Valentino and Prada for bags, and Jimmy Choo for shoes. But would she consider herself brand-conscious? Not necessarily. “For me, it’s more about the quality than the label. There’s a market near my office and I’ll just go down and if I see something nice that suits me, I’ll buy it. What catches my eye are unique pieces.”
