The global landmark ICONSIAM located upon the banks of the Chao Phraya River, together with the Indian Association of Thailand (IAT), the Thai–India Trade & Tourism Association (TITTA), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Embassy of India, Bangkok, and a wide range of public and private sector partners, will present the “AMAZING THAILAND GRAND DIWALI FESTIVAL 2026” in harmony with the Thai-Indian Community.

Diwali is one of the most significant events on the Indian festive calendar. The Festival of Lights will be celebrated from 6–8 November 2026 at River Park, G Floor, ICONSIAM, showcasing the heritage and colour of Indian arts and culture to international visitors and Thai citizens alike. As Thailand and India prepare to commemorate the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, this celebration also aims to deepen the enduring friendship and cultural ties between the two nations, Thailand and India.

The broader Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 is a month-long cultural celebration with seven events taking place across three provinces, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand. At ICONSIAM, guests can engross themselves in the convivial and bright atmosphere of Diwali with the serene Chao Phraya River as its backdrop. This atmosphere is only further heightened by an illuminated giant lotus installation, serving as a symbol of the spirit of the Festival of Lights. The lotus is sacred in Sanatan Dharma (Hindu religion), often tied to the creation of the universe by the Lord Brahma. It is fitting that ICONSIAM marks Diwali, a festival of new beginnings and, for many communities, the start of a new year, with this dazzling landmark.

The lotus is tied into several other activities at the ICONSIAM Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 as well. From paying homage and seeking blessings from Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity and an important part of Diwali celebrations who sits on a pink lotus in full bloom, and Lord Ganesha, who clears mental, spiritual, and physical blocks to begin the new year, to taking in the intricate, decorative displays inspired by Indian art, culture, and traditions. There will be plenty of backdrops for guests to take beautiful photographs, commemorating the occasion, whether for themselves or for social media.

Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 will feature assorted cultural activities and performances, ranging from a Bollywood Dance Competition, the Indian–Thai Got Talent contest to the more traditional cultural shows, and Bhajan & Pooja prayer ceremonies. Additionally, the space will also host a Turban Awareness Pavilion. The aim of this activity is for visitors to explore the traditions and heritage of the Sikh and Namdhari communities settled in Bangkok through interactive, educational experiences.

This festive atmosphere, including Thai artist F.HERO’s special concert on Friday, 6 November from 7 PM to 8.30 PM, would be incomplete without the singular most important symbol of a Diwali celebration: the humble diya. This small terracotta lamp holds a cotton wick doused in ghee that provides light to homes. It is said each corner of the house must be lit with these diyas so the Goddess Lakshmi is able to find her way and bless every crevice of the home. After all, what is the Festival of Lights without the diya?

An anticipated highlight of the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 will be taking place on Sunday, 8 November from 4:30 PM to 6 PM. Yes, it is the “A Night of Diwali” Diya Lighting Ceremony. As Diwali is celebrated this year on 8 November, the event comes to fruition with this final “A Night of Diwali”. At 6 PM, the celebrations will culminate with a gorgeous fireworks display over the Chao Phraya River, marking a memorable end to the festivities.

Highlighting the shared cultural heritage between India and Thailand, guests can enjoy, as part of the Diya Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, 8 November, the “Ramayana-Ramakien” cultural performance presented by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Bangkok. Perhaps a little known fact to visitors, the Ramayana and Diwali are inextricably linked as the Festival of Lights celebrates the triumph of good over evil, and Lord Rama’s return to the Kingdom of Ayodhya after his exile and defeat of the demon, Ravana.
