New Gift Service

Joy Box (pictured above) is a new online store selling presents that are good for the local community and the environment, curating high quality, handcrafted gift boxes that truly represent Thailand. All products are sourced from local artisans and the packaging is made from eco-friendly or repurposed materials. Examples of boxes they currently stock include the Cuppa Joe (THB 1,700) that consists of whole coffee beans, a pair of handmade coasters, and a chocolate and coffee scented candle that will win over all coffee fans. Another option is the Young Artist (THB 2,500) that boasts a luxe mechanical pencil, natural pigment watercolour paints, a handwoven bag for creative tools, and organic Thai tea! www.shopjoybox.com

New Beach Club

Sundance Day Club is a new addition to Hua Hin’s sprawling white beach. Combining two concepts under one roof: Sunrise Thai Cuisine and the Sunset Pool Bar, it’s the perfect place to spend a day under Thailand’s famous sunshine. At their restaurant, tuck into upscale Thai cuisine made from fresh local ingredients sourced in the province, while at their pool bar, dip and dine on European fusion dishes, tapas, and refreshing signature cocktails, or lounge in one of their designated cabanas with pristine views. The day club also boasts accommodations should you want to stay on the property, each with bright furnishings and modern amenities. Reservations in advance are required. Facebook: @sundancedayclub

New Café

Now open inside leafy Suan Phlu, the Smokey Cat is a must-visit if you enjoy fresh coffee. Both an onsite roaster and a café, this new entrant to the city offers small-batch, single-origin coffee and blends sourced locally and from countries like Ethiopia, Colombia, Rwanda, Brazil, and Peru. Beyond traditional drink options encompassing classic and matcha lattes and Americanos, the café also boasts signature options such as the Crème brulee coffee (THB 160). You can also buy your favourite coffees to brew at home (prices start at approximately THB 350 for 100g). To nibble on, cheesecakes from Brave Roasters are available, so are bagels from Volks, and croissants and other baked delights courtesy of Kokopan. Facebook: @smokeycat.roaster

New Campaign

Taiki Tsubota, the viral chef behind ‘homeburg’ that had a waiting list of over a thousand patrons, has introduced an exciting campaign under his brand, Bun Meat and Cheese. Over the next few weeks, he will be cooking up burgers that pay homage to some of the world’s most famous variations as part of the ‘Bun Meat and Cheese World Tour.’ Currently, they’re offering their take on Shake Shack called the Fake Shack (THB 260), complete with a housemade roll, smashed beef patty, American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and their signature ‘fake’ sauce. Available until July, Taiki has hinted that next on the list will be an adaptation of California’s famous In-N-Out Burger, so keep your eyes peeled! Facebook: @bunmeatandcheesebkk
