A one-of-a-kind Christmas tree that blends traditional Thai craftsmanship with sustainable practices.
As part of Amari Bangkok‘s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, this year’s Christmas tree, standing tall in the heart of the hotel’s grand lobby, is made entirely from the iconic Bo Sang umbrellas. Renowned for their beauty and handcrafted quality, these umbrellas are a symbol of local Thai artistry and Amari Bangkok’s commitment to cultural sustainability.
A Symbol of Heritage and Sustainability
Each parasol that adorns the tree has been meticulously crafted by the skilled artisans of the Bo Sang Umbrella Village, located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. In choosing to source these parasols directly from the community, Amari Bangkok takes a stand to support local crafts and promote cultural heritage.
The Parasol – A Signature of Amari’s Hospitality
The parasol, featured prominently in Amari’s logo, represents the homely comfort and joy that the hotel aims to provide for every guest. It is a testament to Amari’s heartfelt hospitality and dedication to creating memorable experiences.
Post-Festive Season – A Legacy of Art and Education
As part of the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, the story of these parasols does not end with the festive season. After the celebrations, guests will be invited to Club Siraa to leave their artistic mark on the parasols. This activity allows guests to take home a personalised souvenir, ensuring that the spirit of the event and Thai artistry continues.
Supporting the Arts and Education
In collaboration with Bangkok University, Amari Bangkok has also invited art students to lend their creative talents by painting parasols that will be displayed and later sold or auctioned. All proceeds will support the students’ education, nurturing the future generation of Thai artists.
Join the Celebration
Amari Bangkok invites guests and locals alike to visit and marvel at the Christmas tree, participate in the upcoming activities, and join the hotel in celebrating the season of giving and cultural appreciation.
