He’s All That (Netflix)

Millennials rejoice! Mark Waters, the man behind some of our favourite films, Mean Girls (2004) and Freaky Friday (2003) starring Lindsay Lohan is making his directing return with He’s All That. A modern adaption of the popular 90s film She’s All That, the movie will star young up-and-comers, Madison Pettis from Disney Channel’s Cory in the House; Tanner Buchanan who is best known for his work on Cobra Kai; Thai-American singer Myra Molloy, and Tik-Tok star Addison Rae in the lead role. The premise follows Rae’s character Padgett Sawyer who attempts to avenge herself following a humiliating fallout with her boyfriend by turning the school’s least popular boy in school (Buchanan) into the prom king. If it’s anything like Waters’ previous work, expect a lot of laughs!

Navarasa (Netflix)

From creator Mani Ratnam, Navarasa is an upcoming Indian web anthology filmed in Tamil. Featuring nine episodes directed by nine different individuals, the overall theme of the show centres on our navarasas, or nine different emotions—anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace, and wonder. A collective effort, the teaser trailer for the series opens with the quote “the emotional journey of an industry coming together to support its people,” as all of the artists involved in the production are doing so voluntarily to help those in the film fraternity who were badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Promising a mix of tear jerking and heart-warming moments, Navarasa is definitely gaining the buzz it deserves.
