Bollywood actors stole the spotlight at the Met Gala 2025 and added their own persona to the event’s theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” From a pregnant mom showing off couture motherhood to a cinema king breaking records on the carpet, every celebrity merged Indian chic along with the gala’s dandyism concept of fashion.
Here, we list out the outfits, the designer, social media frenzy, and moments to remember for each of the Bollywood icons walking the Met Gala stairs.
King Khan made his presence at the Met Gala in full Bling Khan mode. He slayed in his long black cloak and V-neck top, which was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. This design aligned with the event’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. What stood out was the “K” pendant reflecting his King Khan title, along with the countless other accessories.
His multiple necklaces featured gemstones, celestial charms, and his initials. Moreover, he also wore a star-shaped, diamond-studded brooch and a cane topped with the head of a Bengal tiger.
Shah Rukh Khan is also the first male Indian actor to walk the prestigious red carpet, making a historic debut for Indian cinema. And of course, he did it in his DDLJ signature arm style, winning the hearts of fans around the world.
Mummy-to-be Kiara Advani is not just all dressed up. She is telling a story with her outfit. The gold heart on her stomach shows that she’s carrying a baby. The gold chain represents the umbilical cord, showing a deep and loving symbol of the bond between mother and child. Strength is shown in her shiny gold breastplate, representing armor and love.
The long white cape flowing behind her added grandeur to her look was inspired by the late André Leon Talley. Her outfit, which was aptly named Bravehearts, was designed by Gaurav Gupta and styled by Anita Shroff Adajania. People were referring to her as the "Rani of the Met Gala."
Behind-the-scenes moments showed Kiara munching on a slice of pizza before she walked the blue carpet at the Met.
The mystery guest of 2024 made a strong comeback, turning heads at the Met Gala, and this time she didn't come alone. Mona Patel was accompanied by Vector, a robotic dog wearing a tuxedo and having a leash decorated with a 1,000-carat emerald-cut diamond. Named after Browne’s iconic dachshund, Vector was programmed with custom movements and a distinct personality.
Mona wore a tailored black suit with a cape and corseted bodice perfectly embodying the 2025 Met Gala theme. Her outfit had a blend of cultural touches of indian heritage elements with a feminine twist, which was represented by the halter shirt and flowing silk panels. Her skirt was laced with a corset-style bodice, which complemented her shape. The corset was hand-embroidered by Indian craftsmen. To match her corset, she wore black stiletto pumps by Rene Caovilla with sparkle.
Her outfit was designed by Thom Browne, which had the concept of mixing sharp menswear with delicate feminine details. The inspiration behind the making of this outfit was from Mona's childhood, where she wore her dad's clothes and felt powerful. Her overall style was a mix of futuristic tech, high fashion, and cultural storytelling.
Not only was it a style debut, Diljit strolled onto the Met carpet gracefully, confident, and effortlessly ushered the Punjabi culture along. He made an entry in a bespoke ivory sherwani suit designed by Prabal Gurung. It was complete with golden embroidery, a cape, and a jewelled white turban topped by a kalgi that merged couture and tradition.
He accessorised with a lion-faced kirpan sword swagger stick and added motifs such as peacocks, the map of Punjab, and the Gurmukhi script embroidered in the outfit. He honoured the Maharaja of Patiala and presented Punjabi pride to the world of fashion.
His trademark moustache curl and cane saunter immediately went the rounds as a viral meme, which he amusingly posted. Social cyberspace went into a frenzy of excitement, referring to him as the "Punjabi Prince of the Met", sending a wave of Desi pride and admiration across the internet.
Isha Ambani dazzles other Met Gala guests in a couture outfit by Anamika Khanna and styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania; Isha herself chose the jewelry.
Her outfit boasted fitted trousers for a contemporary silhouette that was supported by a handwoven Benarasi train that was encrusted in Zardozi and bow embroidery. The look was a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation, and in perfect sync with the theme of 2025. It was worked on for more than 15,000 hours by skilled labour. It was a reflection of the richness of Indian craft.
The designer stated that the look was designed to depict Isha's dedication to upholding Indian artistry.
The look ensemble was a tribute to India's textile heritage but still featured quiet luxury and cultural continuity. Social media lauded its quiet but strong elegance as it heralded traditional handloom arts. It was called one of the most elegant and emotionally charged displays of the evening.
