Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is set to sparkle brighter than ever in Bangkok this year. Thailand’s capital is ready to celebrate the vibrant Thai–Indian friendship through lights, food, and culture. As part of Thailand’s tourism campaign to welcome 12 million international visitors in the last four months of 2025, Diwali takes centre stage as one of the country’s key cultural events.

When is Diwali 2025? (Main Day)

Main Diwali Day is Monday, 20 October 2025 but celebrations in Bangkok start earlier and last all month. Different venues have different dates, so you can enjoy multiple events.

ICONSIAM – Grand Diwali Festival 2025

Location: River Park, G Floor, ICONSIAM
Dates: 17–19 October 2025
Time: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Daily timings may vary based on each program). See detailed schedule here.

Hosted by the Indian Association of Thailand (IAT) together with TAT, Ministry of Culture, BMA, and ICONSIAM.

Highlights:

  • Traditional prayers and diva (lamp-lighting) ceremonies

  • Bollywood mini concerts and DJ Night

  • Fireworks and Bollywood × Thai Fusion Concert by F.HERO & Friends (17 Oct)

Vibe: A colourful, joyful mix of Thai-Indian performances, live music, rangoli art, tasty street food, and festive shopping. You get all this in one lively community celebration.

Khlong Ong Ang – Canal-Side Festival

Dates: 16–31 October 2025 (light decorations)
Main festival activities: 16–20 October 2025
Time: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Highlights:

  • Canal-side light displays and lanterns

  • Riverside markets and food stalls

  • Thai–Indian fusion snacks

  • Street performances and music

  • Art walls and photo corners

Vibe: A lively evening stroll with lights, crowds, street snacks on paper plates, and fun performances all along the canal.

Best time to visit

Its good to arrive between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM so that there's time to explore markets and art in daylight, then enjoy light installations, performances, and night-time atmosphere as the evening progresses.

Tips for visitors

  • Try to visit different venues on different days so you can experience a variety of events

  • Use public transport like MRT or BTS to avoid getting stuck in traffic

  • Check performance schedules in advance (ICONSIAM has major shows)

  • Go with friends or family for a more enjoyable experience

  • Bring an umbrella just in case in rains
