The Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok premieres their new grocer’s-turned-restaurant brunch spot

An afternoon of delightful delicacies and beverages at Stock.Room.

By Natasha Sethi

On the 8th of April, Masala was invited to the debut of Stock.Room at the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok. The afternoon to remember commenced with general manager Patrick Both giving a few welcoming words, which were then followed by delightful delicacies, top-hole tipples, and appetising afters.

When we entered, we stepped into an industrial-chic grocer’s-turned-restaurant; a charming and high-energy eatery where there is something for everyone. The vibe of this state-of-the-art brunch spot can be described as cosy yet commodious, an ultimate option for an easygoing date or an enjoyable family meal. The added touch of nature injected a pop of colour and vibrancy to the space.

The brunch buffet encompasses several fresh, farm-to-plate options, ranging from luxe seafood dishes like caviar and oysters to freshly baked goods. No matter what you are in the mood for, whether it’s classic Italian fare or some Thai cuisine, Stock.Room has you covered with its six different kitchens. Same goes for the plethora of beverages offered, with delicious cocktails that are ideal to sip on on a hot summer’s day, or your choice of premium juices and coffee, with beans for the latter roasted in-house.

Stock.Room also has its own juicery, bakery, and butcher, and all of its products are locally sourced. Some of their key dishes that really impressed our palettes were their signature ravioli, perfectly-cooked and stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, with creamy pesto sauce drizzled on top; and their assortment of oysters, encompassing Istrenn Fine oysters, Fine de Claire oysters, and Mennes Oleron oysters.

If you have a sweet-tooth, brace yourselves because the decadent dessert options are mouthwatering, to say the least. The offerings in their ‘candy land’, AKA the area where the bonne bouche is served, are almost too appealing to eat. To top it off, Stock.Room has its very own chocolate room. Yes, a chocolate room! It’s something you have to experience for yourselves so I won’t give too much away, except that you can fulfil your Willy Wonka dreams there.

Daily breakfast is THB 750 ++ per person; brunch on Sundays is THB 1950++ per adult (inclusive of soft drinks), THB 750++ for children aged between 4-12, and THB 950++ for free-flow cocktails, beers, and wines. This trendy grocerant also allows you to host private gatherings and events that can be tailored to your needs and wants. For those interested in more spry pursuits, you have the option to enroll in culinary classes or partake in a workshop led by Stock.Room’s chefs and mixologists.
