New Izakaya

Now open on Convent Road, Tokyo Neo (pictured above) is a new izakaya serving up affordable Japanese cuisine. Highlights from their menu include an array of snacks like edamame, pickled vegetables, and fried squid served with tangy yuzu-infused mayonnaise; karaage (deep fried chicken) served with different sauces; as well as items from their robata (grill) such as pork belly in teriyaki sauce and Japanese-style meatballs. Beyond nibbles, the restaurant also offers mains like curry rice and donburi bowls topped with ingredients like salmon, tuna, and beef. They also have several signature sushi rolls including the Salmon mania (THB 240), Surf and turf Tokyo roll (THB 390), and the Double dragon (THB 280) that consists of crunchy ebiko, tender unagi and avocado, all served with a rich mayo. New Brunch Spot

Sarnies Roastery is the latest concept of the Sarnies Group and acts as an extension of their growing coffee programme. Located on Soi Ton Son, fans of their brews will now be able to witness the full coffee roasting experience, which takes centre-stage. Popular blends such as their Mr. Darkside Blend (THB 439/250g) and Smooth Criminal Blend (THB 399/250g) will still be available for take-home purchases as well as in their signature drinks, such as the White coffee lemonade (THB 100) and Caffe-kaffir tonic (THB 100). A Sarnies experience, of course, is incomplete without their indulgent comfort food that takes brunch favourites and gives them a Thai twist, such as the Smoked salmon breakfast sarnie (THB 300) where smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, are topped with a creamy yum sauce. Beyond sandwiches, Sarnies Roastery will also offer a range of pastries, delights from their pizzeria, and tonnes of freshly baked bread. Facebook: @sarniesbkk

New Indian Supermarket

Talad Desi is a digital marketplace and one-stop mobile application for all the Indian community’s home, grocery, and kitchen needs. Boasting over 2,000 products, the platform is the biggest single aggregator of goods from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Thailand with a strong focus on quality mutton, fresh seafood, organic chicken, a wide-range of snacks, dry fruits, masala, and fresh vegetables and fruits. According to Founder, Ashish Grover, “I was surprised to see so many people buying and selling on Facebook and Shopee and it made me realise that the Indian community deserves a full mobile application.” The platform is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and is currently offering free delivery in Bangkok for orders above THB 499. www.taladdesi.com

New Restaurant

Thomas Suhring, one half of the team behind Suhring, has launched a new delivery-only venture with his wife, Jeab, called Superb BBQ. Born out of lockdown and the discovery of their love for smoked meats, the duo prepare everything from their backyard. Thanks to their own smoker, they’re able to prepare high-quality barbecue from top tier Australian grain-fed beef that has been rubbed, marinated, and dry-aged at home for a week. Those who enjoy a good barbecue look for certain criteria in their smoked meats, which includes a blackened, herbaceous crust that gives way to extremely tender, juicy meat. All of which Superb BBQ offers. If you’re interested, two sets are available: Set A (THB 3,990) comes with a full rack of beef short ribs with homemade pickles, sauces, and two sides; Set B (THB 1,690) offers the same but in a smaller portion.
