Last month, Masala penned a story about all of the COVID-19 donations coming out of the community during this devastating time. One group that we highlighted was the Lions Club Silom Bangkok that launched several initiatives to help people disadvantaged by the pandemic, including assisting the elderly and donating computers, educational tools, and welfare packages to children from poor communities among other efforts.
Living up to their belief of ‘We Serve,’ it’s clear that the group does just that, and their assistance and dedication to giving back has truly helped the lives of so many people living in Bangkok and beyond. As a result of their efforts, the Lions Club of Bangkok Silom, District 310D has been awarded with the 1st Outstanding Club Activities Award — ‘Best Club Activities’ in Thailand for the year 2020-21 ‘ out of the six Lion districts ( A1, A2, B, C, D, E ), which encompass more than 300 Lions clubs nationwide.
The team, represented by President Aakriti Sultania, attended a district meeting held on the 16th of September 2021 at the Lions Club International Head Office, District 310, Sukhumvit Soi 64 in Bangkok where it was announced that the group had won the title. The Lions Club Council, District Governors, and other dignitaries from Districts 310 A1, A2, B, C, D, and E attended the ceremony and presented this prestigious award to the team.
President Sultania has expressed: “it is an honour and pride to have our activities and services recognised on a national level. It will also strengthen the bonds of the Indian and Thai communities.” She celebrated the joyous occasion alongside the group’s former president Lion Pawan Mishra and Lion Sunish Sultania.
