SO/ Sofitel Hua Hin: A Private Beachfront Setting for the Big, Fat Indian Wedding

Everything at SO/ Sofitel Hua Hin is built around the idea of an imaginative escape. Couples and families don’t only tour the property, they start dreaming inside it. They turn a corner and find a courtyard, a stretch of lawn, or a hidden pocket of the resort they hadn’t expected and immediately are picturing a festivity there.

That sense of discovery is rare and families light up when they realise a resort can feel this playful and personal. And now, with the only private beach in the Cha Am—Hua Hin area, we’ve added the one thing that’s usually impossible for a beachfront wedding: true privacy.

The numbers tell the story better than I can. In 2025, we hosted nine Indian weddings and in 2026, we’ve already matched that number in April itself. The pace has been extraordinary and it’s being driven as much by the planners and the families themselves as by us.

Commercially, our wedding revenue is up more than 50% year by year.

Very often. A wedding and a family resort are really the same thing wearing different disguises. Both are about generations coming together: parents giving their blessings, children beginning a new life, entire families under one roof to celebrate.

We’re a family resort. When a family chooses us, they almost always want the whole resort to themselves so every corner, every pool, every lawn, becomes part of their celebration. The resort was built for multi-generation joy, and an Indian wedding is multi-generational joy at its very best.

Relative to our number of keys, this is a big, generous property. We have around 100 rooms spread across a lot of land, so the resort never feels dense and since we prefer to host weddings as full buyouts, families aren’t fitting their event into a room.

Instead, they’re designing the entire hotel around their vision. There are easily 10–12 distinct venues to choose from across our lawns and beachfront, so a five-day celebration can give every function its own setting without repetition.

Our SO/ Khiri marquee is genuinely special. We’ve invested heavily in it. It’s powered by a superb Yamaha sound system and a high-resolution LED screen that can move around the space to suit each wedding’s concept and, importantly, we kept it deliberately white—a blank canvas for couples to dress in any colour or theme they dream.

But here’s the truth about families who travel all the way to this coast: they don’t want to be shut inside four walls. They want the beach, the sea breeze, the nature and culture of Thailand around them.

So the marquee’s real advantage isn’t that it replaces the outdoors. It protects it. It gives the couples confidence to plan an ambitious open-air celebration, knowing that if the weather turns, or the guest list swells, there’s a spectacular, fully-equipped space ready to take over.

Our strength is the whole property; the marquee is what lets couples dream big without worrying.

Food is sacred at an Indian wedding, so we’ve built real expertise in-house. We have a highly experienced Indian chef on our team, a full-time member of SO/ Sofitel Hua Hin’s family, not a weekend hire, who leads the entire culinary direction alongside a very seasoned F&B team.

We also know some families carry very particular, deeply personal catering traditions that no single hotel kitchen can fully replicate so we’re happy to welcome their trust specialist caterers to work alongside us, while the core menu is delivered by our own team.

From our side, we’ve also introduced beautifully executed set menus. Back in April, we hosted a wedding built around an elaborate Indian sit-down dinner that our team delivered flawlessly and left the guests raving.

What we’ve learned is that every wedding is different, and yet they all share one thread: it comes down to how well you look after the families and their guests. A wedding is a torrent of feeling, happy tears, blessings, reunions, and that’s exactly what our team loves to be part of.

What I can tell you is the moments that move us most are never about scale or budget—they’re the moments when a family truly lets us in and by the final night, the team feels less like the hotel and more like part of the family.

Distilled, we’re built almost perfectly for the way an Indian wedding works. The typical guest list we see sits around 250.

Our unusually generous room sizes, the ability to offer a full buyout, and a refreshingly short list of dos and don’ts and a team whose only real agenda is to make sure the family leaves happy gives couples something they rarely find: the freedom to design their celebration exactly as they imagined on their own private stretch of beach.

That’s the package and it’s a hard one to match.

There’s a lot to be excited about. We’ll be adding a large new ballroom. Although it’s approximately two years away, weddings are planned well in advance, so it’s very valuable information for couples making bookings now.

The biggest game-changer, however, is accessibility. The new M82 motorway from Bangkok is slated to open by either the end of this year or the middle of next.

Today, the drive runs anywhere from two and a half to three hours; once the motorway opens, guests will reach our door from Bangkok’s airport in approximately two hours. Since we’re the first resort you arrive at coming from Bangkok, that convenience lands squarely in our favour.
