Whether you're in the mood for a cosy watch, a bunch of laughter, or an action-packed war drama, this month's streaming lineup has something for every kind of viewer. From long-awaited returns to exciting new originals, these are the best streaming releases arriving this August.

Prime Video seems to be on a streak lately. After the success of Off Campus, the renewal of Every Year After, and The Summer I Turned Pretty, Amazon Prime Video has tapped YA television stalwarts, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (you may know them as the creators of Gossip Girl) to produce their new show. Sterling Point follows Annie Jacobson, a young woman whose life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in a sleepy Canadian setting.

If you think about television shows that defined the pandemic era, what names come to mind? The Queen’s Gambit, Emily in Paris, and Schitt’s Creek are some names that come to mind but perhaps the biggest of all these was the Jason Sudeikis-led Ted Lasso. Originally planned for a three-season arc, this fan-favourite show about an optimistic American football coach moving to England returns this August, this time coaching a women’s second division team. In addition to Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Brett Goldstein are also set to reprise their roles. The show will air in a weekly format with the final episode concluding in October.

If you haven’t quite had your fill of soapy teen dramas, worry not! The third season of Netflix’s hit show, My Life With The Walter Boys, is returning to our screens very soon. When we last left the series, we had been left in a cliffhanger regarding the love triangle between our main protagonist and the two boys who like her very much. A new love interest is on the horizon and this season of My Life With the Walter Boys promises absolute drama.

From the teaser alone, the series promises engaging action visuals from an aerial point of view. Starring Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, and what seems to be a stellar ensemble cast, if you’re a fan of series like Band of Brothers and The Pacific, this might be your next weekend binge.
