Friday Night Plan (Netflix)

Legendary actress Juhi Chawla plays the mother of two bickering brothers who devise a plan to host the biggest house party of the year before she returns. The Indian comedy, starring Babil Khan (son of the late, great Irrfan Khan), Amrith Jayan, and Medha Rana, takes inspiration from familiar coming-of-age misadventures we’ve come to watch and love from Hollywood. According to the director, this will be a heartwarming watching experience that speaks to all audiences.

The Little Mermaid (Disney+)

The 2023 live-action The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey, is headed for streaming, thus giving many of us the first chance at watching the film, while others will enjoy it for multiple viewings. With a total of USD 542 million at the worldwide box office, a rating of 67 percent from critics, and a 94 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film saw modest success on the silver screen, and Halle Bailey was praised for her performance as Ariel outshining nearly every other element of the film. Despite your views on Disney’s never-ending churn of live-action movies, the movie is still sure to be an entertaining watch for most viewers.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick (Prime Video)

Rejoice John Wick fans, we’re about to dive a little deeper into the world of elite assassins in the three-part limited series The Continental. Starring Mel Gibson (Kingpin), Colin Woodell (young Winston), and Katie McGrath (The Adjudicator), the mini-series takes place in the 1970s, revolving around the chain of hotels located around the world that cater to the criminal underworld. Based on the latest trailer, we’re in for an action-packed, thrilling ride filled with hitmen and notorious murderers causing absolute havoc.

Nowhere (Netflix)

This thrilling Netflix original film, starring Anna Castillo and Tamar Novas, is the story of Mia (Castillo), a pregnant woman who attempts to escape her overpopulated home country, which suffers from a chronic lack of resources. She finds herself in a terrifying situation when her flight gets caught in a storm, throwing her and the cargo container she’s travelling in adrift at sea. To add to the hair-raising stakes, she gives birth while lost at sea, and must now find a way to survive against all odds.
