Sarnies has long been a favourite for those who crave a strong cup of joe, generous sandwiches, and a laid-back atmosphere. Each outpost brings its own twist, a subtle variation that keeps loyal fans coming back. The One Bangkok location, however, feels like Sarnies distilled to its greatest hits, with a carefully curated menu perfectly attuned to the precinct’s cosmopolitan energy. Here, familiar classics meet playful surprises, adding an element of delight to the dishes we know and love. Nestled on the first floor of The Storeys, the space acts as a melting pot of all things Sarnies, designed to please both the casual passerby and the city’s dedicated connoisseurs. It is a destination that feels entirely realised, confident in its flavour, style, and character.
THE AMBIANCE
Sarnies One Bangkok unfolds with a sense of ease and careful intention. Warm mahogany walls set the tone, echoed in the polished tables and chairs, while seats upholstered in deep maroon leather strike that balance between comfort and quiet luxury. The restaurant is thoughtfully divided into three sections: larger communal tables by the open kitchen, a more intimate right wing screened by glass blocks that shimmer like frozen cubes, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the department store’s open-air courtyard, ideal for conversation over evening drinks. Inside, playful artworks break up the dark panelling, while vintage speakers along the upper walls add a nostalgic charm. Guests in the left wing are treated to views of the open kitchen, the coffee bar, and a gleaming display of patisserie. True to Sarnies’ style, the setting is laptop-friendly, yet peppered with surprises, like a DJ turntable tucked next to the bakery counter. To complete the picture, the venue is pet-friendly, making meals feel that little bit more spirited.
THE CULINARY SELECTION
Our team arrived in the early hours of brunch, appetites sharpened by the anticipation of an extended menu that had already earned much praise. Once seated, we skimmed through the beverage list and settled on a classic Iced latte (THB 150 for large) for fuel, with a few extras to cleanse the palate between bites. The Sarnies cola (THB 160) was particularly refreshing, fragrant with local spices and botanicals, and topped with soda. To begin, we ordered the Saganaki halloumi (THB 360), a vibrant dish of grilled halloumi with hot honey, brandy-basted mangoes, and crushed hazelnuts.
From the brunch menu, we opted for the Turkish eggs (THB 400), an indulgent plate of poached free-range eggs, spiced labneh, grilled halloumi, roasted cherry tomatoes, herb salad, dukkah, pomegranate, chilli crisp, and slices of sourdough. For those who prefer to customise their plate, the all-day “Pimp My Breakfast” option offers the chance to mix and match to taste. In true Sarnies’ spirit, their sourdough selection extends beyond bread and into pizzas. We chose the Smoked bacon carbonara (THB 460), creamy and comforting with thick-cut smoked bacon, fior di latte, cracked pepper, fresh egg yolk, and a parmesan crust over parmigiano cream. Beyond brunch, the menu extends to mains with equal flair.
The Harissa roasted chicken (THB 480) was a must for me after developing a love for all things harissa on a recent trip to New Zealand. The dish featured a marinated chicken leg with lime and coriander chimichurri, paprika couscous, bell peppers, raisins, and pangrattato. We also sampled the Steak au poivre (THB 1,050), a grain-fed Angus flat iron steak (200 grams) rubbed with five peppers, served with truffle steak sauce, mah kwan pepper, pickled pepper, and shoestring fries. To finish, we shared the Bread pudding (THB 180), crafted from sourdough croissants and served with coffee honey, homemade vanilla ice cream, and caramel custard. The kind of dessert that proves Sarnies knows how to do classic comfort.
THE MASALA CHOICE
As this outpost highlights flavours inspired by Singapore, we could not resist trying the Singapore chilli crab pasta (THB 480). It arrived as a rich medley of tomato and chilli marinara, crab meat, poached free-range egg, capers, black olives, fried basil, and homemade casarecce pasta. A dish that felt both comforting and daring, it carried just the right amount of heat without overshadowing the sweetness of the crab.
