InterContinental Koh Samui Resort announces its participation in the upcoming Samui Summer Jazz 2026, welcoming internationally acclaimed Dutch jazz trumpeter Michael Varekamp for an evening of jazz music overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
On Tuesday, 28 April 2026, the resort will host an exclusive jazz evening at its renowned Air Bar, featuring the Michael Varekamp Quintet with fellow Dutch musician Alexander Beets, presenting their acclaimed performance, “From New Orleans to New York.”
Michael Varekamp is a Dutch jazz trumpeter, singer, composer, and bandleader known for his versatile career in jazz performance, festival organisation, radio broadcasting, and music-theatre production. Alexander ‘The Hurricane’ Beets is a Dutch tenor saxophonist well known among jazz enthusiasts worldwide for his explosive sound and undeniable swing. He has performed with renowned jazz artists such as Igor Butman, Deborah Brown, Sylwester Ostrowski, and Thailand’s own Koh Mr Saxman. He leads his own quintet and also works with the Saskia Laroo Band and the New York Round Midnight Orchestra, both of which have performed with him in Samui. https://alexanderbeets.com/
Set against a sunset backdrop, the evening will unfold as a musical journey through the golden eras of jazz, tracing the genre’s evolution from its origins in New Orleans to the iconic jazz clubs of New York. Guests can expect an atmosphere that combines world-class live music with the distinctive setting of Air Bar, known for its panoramic views over the Gulf of Thailand.
Presented in collaboration with Skål International Koh Samui and Sisters on Samui, and supported by Bangkok International Hospital – Samui, the event forms part of the wider Samui Summer Jazz Festival. The festival celebrates international jazz talent while also supporting the Music in Schools initiative by Sisters on Samui, a community programme dedicated to bringing music education to local children on the island.
The doors open at 18:00 hours, followed by dinner at 19:00 hours, with the show at 20:00 hours.
Jazz Dinner Experience is priced at THB 2,500++ per person. Guests will enjoy a specially prepared dinner while experiencing the live concert performance in an elegant seaside setting.
Concert Entrance Package is priced at THB 1,000++ per person and includes concert access and one complimentary drink for guests who wish to enjoy the music and vibrant festival atmosphere.
As part of the festival’s commitment to the local community, a portion of the evening’s proceeds will support the Music in Schools project, contributing to music education opportunities for young people on the island through the initiatives of Sisters on Samui.
