SATTE 2026 began its 33rd edition in New Delhi, drawing over 2,000 exhibitors from more than 60 nations and highlighting a major step forward for India’s travel sector.

This event was hosted by Informa Markets in India, and what makes this particularly noteworthy is that the exhibition comes at a time when India’s domestic tourism economy is projected to reach US$125 billion by 2027.

Many key leaders were present at the inauguration, where Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasised India’s rising presence in world tourism.

Shekhawat highlighted initiatives like Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and Dekho Apna Desh, noting how they’re strengthening infrastructure while encouraging more people to travel within the country.

Held under the theme “An Opportunity Called India,” the event featured discussions on India’s growing role in the MICE sector and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in global tourism.

Suman Billa, Director General at the Ministry of Tourism, observed that domestic travel in India has climbed to nearly three billion journeys, generating robust demand and opening new investment opportunities.

Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona emphasised that the state’s deep-rooted traditions and breathtaking landscapes are at the heart of its tourism appeal.

Highlighting the trend, Yogesh Mudras described the current phase as “triple-engine growth,” powered by travel within India, outbound journeys, and more global tourists arriving.

SATTE 2026 is also showcasing emerging travel segments and technology-led innovations, reflecting the fast-changing dynamics of India’s tourism market.

The event continues to stand as a pivotal forum for policy dialogue, purposeful networking, strategic alliances, and emerging business prospects across the travel and hospitality landscape.
