Ekka Brings Indian Comfort Food to Life in the Heart of Bangkok

A vibrant Bangkok dining destination where nostalgic Indian flavors meet polished comfort food, playful cocktails, and a lively Bollywood-fueled atmosphere.

Ishaani Budhraja

Walking into Ekka feels like stepping into a sundrenched memory. It’s the ultimate destination for anyone craving the soul-warming nostalgia of Indian flavors, but with a polished edge. While the atmosphere stays effortlessly chill, there’s an undeniable spark in the air.

A vibrant energy fueled by a playlist of Bollywood hits keeps the mood light, feet moving, and the conversation flowing.

The hospitality here is what truly brings the space to life. It feels as if you’ve been invited to an intimate dinner by a friend with impeccable taste. It’s warm, genuine, and fuss-free.

At Ekka, they’ve mastered the art of the “relaxed celebration.” The music is catchy, the service is heartfelt, and the vibe is just spirited enough to make every bite of comfort food feel like a celebration.

The Vibes

Space: The interior wraps you in a warm, comfy glow that balances effortless relaxation with a touch of luxury. Copper lamps cast a soft light across terracotta furniture, while chairs featuring woven cane webbing offer a nostalgic nod to classic Indian garden seating.

Deep greens and rich blues anchor the palette, beautifully complementing walls adorned with vibrant artwork. Throughout the space, hand-painted symbols of India create the perfect, picture-ready backdrop for an evening out, making the entire room feel exclusive yet entirely welcoming.

Crowd: This is a space designed for absolutely anyone and everyone. The menu offers palatable, reliable flavours that serve as the perfect introduction for Indian food novices, while still delivering the comforting nostalgia seasoned diners crave.

Thanks to a clever layout, the restaurant seamlessly accommodates couples on intimate dates, bustling family dinners, or solo diners looking for a relaxed meal. For those visiting with friends, celebrating a birthday, or winding down with colleagues after work, the dedicated bar section provides a spirited hub that keeps the energy just right.

The Bites

Forget everything you know about standard drink pairings, because the bar menu here is a masterclass in playful nostalgia.

The undisputed standout is the Indian-inspired Long Island iced tea (THB 300), which comes laced with a savoury hit of chaat masala. It mirrors the exact flavour profile of a classic, street-style spiced lemon soda, making it wonderfully delicious but deceptively strong as it goes down.

For those seeking something icy, the Aperol margarita (THB 280) hits all the right notes, while the pristine Santa Maria (THB 350) remains a reliable favourite for classic cocktail lovers.

Our culinary journey opened with small plates that brought immediate high energy to the table.

The Dahi puri and pani puri shooters (THB 200) are instant crowd-pleasers. The classic pani puri provides a sharp, tangy explosion of flavor, while the cooling dahi puri serves as a phenomenal, sweet palate cleanser that was easily our runner-up favourite of the night. Honestly, a trio of these just isn’t enough.

On the grill side, the Paneer peshawari tikka (THB 360) is an incredibly tender, mildly spiced protein option, standing strong alongside the expertly charred Fish tikka (THB 460) and the succulent Gilaffi mutton seekh (THB 400).

The main course kept the momentum going with traditional staples like the velvety Butter chicken (THB 420).

The rich Saag paneer (THB 380) strikes a balance between homemade Indian cooking and a restaurant-worthy bite, while the Daal ekka (THB 300) is deeply comforting, carefully topped with makhanas (fox nuts), a beloved Indian superfood.

Although the standard Naan (THB 100) and Roti (THB 80) are reliable and great for scooping up gravy, the Laccha paratha (THB 100) is an absolute showstopper. Earning a flawless 10/10, it’s beautifully laminated into buttery, flaky layers while maintaining an impossibly light texture.

To finish, the Mango kulfi falooda (THB 200) offers a decadent, cream-loaded grand finale, perfectly balancing thick malai with bright fruit notes for a stellar ending.

The Masala Choice

The Chicken tikka awadhi biryani (THB 450) is our stand-out favorite. It’s an absolute triumph of texture and aroma, built around a premium Indian basmati rice that feels incredibly airy and light.

Every forkful offers a beautifully measured heat, allowing the intricate, layered spices to really shine through rather than dominate your taste buds.

It eats like a rich, deeply satisfying comfort meal that is substantial enough to carry the dinner solo, yet it plays nicely alongside any side dishes you order.
