What to watch this June on Netflix and Prime

ELITE, SEASON 4 (NETFLIX)

The hit Spanish series Elite is back by popular demand, and hotter than ever. Since season three was a definitive ending to the characters’ evolution, the show has announced that the upcoming season will be starring a predominantly new cast. Expect new characters played by Manu DiosPol Granch, Carla Díaz, and Martina Cariddi, but also some familiar faces (phew!) including Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeu), Ander (Arón Piper), Cayetana (Georgina Amorós), Rebeca (Claudia Salas), and more. This fourth instalment starts off with a new school year at theinfamous Las Encinas, with plenty of the expected drama, trouble, suspense, and of course, a continuation of the show’s affinity for scandal and tragedy. While we may have had a love-hate relationship with the characters, it’s always been pure love for this thrilling series, so fans will be thrilled to hear that the show has also been renewed for a fifth season!

AWAKE (NETFLIX)

Jane the Virgin lead, Gina Rodriguez, will star in Awake, an upcoming American sci-fi thriller directed by Mark Raso and produced by Paul Schiff. The plot revolves around Jill (Rodriguez) and her family during a catastrophe that wipes out humanity’s ability to sleep, and that no longer allows the use of electronic devices. After realising her daughter Matilda (Ariana Greenblatt) may be the key to surviving the global hysteria that unfolds, ex- soldier Jill faces a dilemma between sacrificing everything to save the world or protecting her children at all costs. For fanatics of anything dystopian, ominous, and dark, this is a must-watch for you.

THE FAMILY MAN, SEASON 2 (PRIME)

For those that enjoyed the first season of the highly-rated, action-packed Hindi espionage series The Family Man, the second season is releasing on June 4th so don’t forget to mark the date! One of Prime’s most successful and long-awaited Indian web series, expect the second season to build on the first’s success with more of how Manoj tries to balance his life as a secret agent and dedicated family man, while he’s up against ‘the new face of danger’. Returning are fan-favourites Srikant Tiwari, Suchitra Tiwari, and Rajalakshmi, who are ready to drive everyone wild with their antics!

SHERNI (PRIME)

If you’re looking for something more desi to watch, the talented Vidya Balan is making an appearance after almost a year, in the upcoming Bollywood drama Sherni. Directed by Newton’s (2017) director
Amit V. Masurkar and written by Yashasvi Mishra and Aastha Tiku, the plot of this film follows the story of Vidya playing an honest forest officer struggling for balance in a world of human-animal conflict, and she’ll be starring beside Sharad SaxenaMukul ChaddhaVijay RaazIla ArunBrijendra Kala and Neeraj Kabi.
