Refreshing cocktails and a jaw-dropping view make RedSquare Rooftop Bar a top choice for sundowners.

Dynamic Nana is Bangkok’s go-to spot for budget pubs and go-go bars. This pulsing, neon-lit party district comes to life after dusk, and stays lively until the early hours of the morning. With all the options on off er, it can get tough to pick a chill-out spot, but if you’re looking for a sophisticated retreat from all the hubbub, consider RedSquare Rooftop Bar at Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 4.

As the city’s first dedicated vodka bar, patrons can expect to find premium labels from all over the world. And if that doesn’t raise your curiosity, the view most certainly will. Situated on the 25th floor, overlooking the hotel’s infinity pool, RedSquare Rooftop Bar offers one of the best panoramas to go along with the international menu. Living up to its name, the décor is dominated by square wooden tables and red-cushioned lounge chairs. Once the sun sets, square lamps emit a seductive glow to match the main bar area, enveloping guests in the promise of thrilling after-hour adventures.

Food and Drink

Curated to match all vodka beverages, the bar’s menu is fi lled with tapas, ideal for sharing among friends or colleagues. Take, for instance, Seared marinated salmon in miso sauce (B520), the first hot dish to arrive from the kitchen. Presented as skewers, these ocean delights are pan-fried and topped with power-packed salmon roe and fresh wakame salad that enhance every succulent bite. The addition of miso sauce is a natural pairing for this Japanese-inspired snack. Another seafood highlight is the Char-grilled tiger prawn (B590), skewers with pineapple and salami paired with a citrus-based dressing, which plays up the smokiness of the fresh crustacean.

The Australian beef tenderloin in red wine sauce (B590) is another finger food that feels like a complete meal on a stick. Juicy cuts of beef are presented with lightly salted potato wedges and chorizo, while the accompanying rich dip lends this grilled treat a delectable piquancy. Next to arrive was well-portioned Spinach and cheese quesadilla (B200), a classic that doesn’t disappoint. A guilt-free indulgence, this dish takes a Mexican staple and gives it a healthy spin with some nutritious greens, while still maintaining a lip-smacking ratio of cheese in every mouthful.

If you’re with a larger group of friends, don’t miss ordering the Cold cut selection (B460), with parma ham, coppata, serrano ham, and salami served with slices of bread, olives, gherkins and pickled baby onions. Make your own hors d’oeuvre, and enjoy the salty and sour combination of the cured meat and pickles.

Rounding things off was Spiced prawn burger (B380), mini sliders served with a side of french fries. Highly recommended, the burger is full of flavour; a tender patty heaped with creamy mayo sauce. It gets messy but it’s worth every bite!

In line with their reputation as the city’s first vodka bar, it goes without saying that the top drinks are those which put the popular spirit front and centre. One of our favourites was Mojito Skyy (B320), using SKYY Vodka from North America, which takes its inspiration from the magical colours of a sky just before sunset. The pinkish hue comes from homemade strawberry syrup, a perfect addition to a fresh twist on a classic cocktail.

Next up was Siam Sunrays (B350), which incorporates Thailand’s Kristall vodka and is infused with tom yum herbs for an aromatic aftertaste. Adding to the complex flavour profile is a chilli garnish which gives that extra fiery kick. Finally, we tried their latest addition called Clerico (B250), a cocktail that uses a Uruguayan vodka label complemented with a tropical twist showcasing distinct pineapple and apricot notes. Garnished with flowers and served in a stainless steel mint julep cup, this is the ultimate sunset beverage.
