Not all is fair in love and war.

In what many have claimed to be a feeble and preposterously business-oriented response to the recent Black Lives Matter protests, Hindustan Unilever have officially changed the name of “Fair and Lovely” skin whitening products, to the somewhat less unabashedly colourist “Glow and Lovely”. While this move has seemingly positive connotations, the base product remains the same, with the purpose of the skin cream still being to make people’s skin paler or whiter. With all of this in mind, one must ask the question: is it ethical that corporations continue to make money from negative attitudes towards darker skin?
