The best binge-worthy releases from the top two streaming platforms available!

HANNA SEASON 2 (PRIME)

Returning to screens with a bang, the new season of Hanna promises even more action, intrigue, and espionage. The first series, which landed on Prime last year, introduced viewers to the titular character—a young, highly-skilled assassin named Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles). On the run and with few people to turn to, Hanna continues her journey of survival against the odds in season two, contending with new adversaries and befriending new allies. Having established a new status quo with season one’s thrilling climax, the pulse-pounding action-drama promises to break new ground with its upcoming series.

DESPERADOS (NETFLIX)

Fans of romantic-comedies will adore Netflix’s latest foray into the genre. Chock full of mishaps, Desperados is a frantic knee-slapper that follows the fraught exploits of Brooke (Anna Camp) as she races to delete a ranting email she hastily sent to her newest beau. As events unfold, Brooke is forced to embark on a road trip to Mexico (with her dysfunctional friends in tow) in order to undo her starry-eyed blunder. Supported by the acting chops of Heather Graham and Robbie Amell, Desperados is one comedy of errors that would be a mistake to miss.

THE OLD GUARD (NETFLIX)

Charlize Theron takes the lead in this epic, millennia-spanning actioner, bringing her hallmark dynamism and the same wild energy as Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) to the role of Andy / Andromache of Scythia. Based on the celebrated comic-book series of the same name, The Old Guard follows a group of immortals-turned-mercenaries as they fight to protect their death-defying secret. Events come to a head when the nature of their never-ending existence is exposed to the world, resulting in The Old Guard facing off against an organisation that seeks to exploit their everlasting abilities.

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2 (NETFLIX)

The critically acclaimed, super-powered series is due to make its eagerly awaited reprisal at the end of the month! Following the mind-bending events of the first season’s finale, the second season of The Umbrella Academy follows our favourite mismatched group of would-be superheroes as they formulate a Plan B to thwart the apocalypse. Expect more of the same wry humour as our maladjusted crusaders battle bad guys, and each other, in a time-hopping journey of dysfunction and redemption.
