Outback Steakhouse offers premium quality meats that will please the palates of all steak lovers.

By Deboshree Banerjee

Located on the fourth floor of Siam Discovery, Outback Steakhouse brings the classic Australian–themed establishment to town as a culinary intersection of class and comfort. Known for their impeccable service, enticing side dishes and trendy cuts of beef, the vibrant eatery is a definite must-try in Bangkok’s well-established steak culture.

With a cosy interior filled with natural lighting, the restaurant exudes a laidback and welcoming ambience, which is further accentuated by their unwavering commitment to hospitality. Luckily for meat enthusiasts, the eatery will be opening their second branch this year at the fifth floor of IKON Siam Square One.

Food and Drink

Although steaks make up a good portion of the menu, the restaurant’s extensive offerings also include a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, salad and pasta dishes. While waiting for the food, we enjoyed complimentary honey wheat bushman bread served with whipped butter.

The first to arrive were the mouth-watering Kookaburra wings (B399). Comprising of juicy chicken wings tossed in a savoury blend of spices, this delightful appetiser was a total treat to the taste buds. The creamy blue cheese dressing perfectly enhanced the piquant flavours of the wings. Next was the glorious Typhoon bloom (B289), prepared with their spicy signature Bloom sauce. This visually enticing appetiser was meticulously served with fresh hand-cut onion strings dusted with Outback’s secret seasonings. Stacked into a cyclone-like structure, the dish’s generous portions make it a must-try for all families.

Meanwhile, diners should satisfy their Italian cravings by opting for No rules pasta (B369). Made with fettuccine noodles tossed in a creamy Parmesan cheese sauce with crisp vegetables, succulent chicken and shrimps, this flavoursome dish is a crowd favourite. We also tried a tasty Typhoon burger (B469). Topped with fried onion strings, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and the signature Bloom sauce, this Insta-worthy, gravity-defying burger is bound to be a hit with all carnivore fans.

Finally, we opted for the stellar Outback special (B829), served with impeccably procured 6 oz. sirloin, seared just right and seasoned with bold spices. Paired with Aussie fries, the melt-in-your-mouth meat is certainly worth splurging on. Besides steak, diners can also try the hearty Baby back ribs (B399), presented with Aussie fries. Each rack, smoked and grilled to perfection, is brushed in a tangy barbeque sauce which complements the tender protein well.

Every diner must finish off their meal with Chocolate thunder from down under (B349). This delicious pecan brownie is topped with rich vanilla ice cream, warm chocolate sauce, chocolate shavings and whipped cream. There is no doubt that the Japanese-inspired chocolate extravaganza is every sweet tooth’s dream come true.

Outback Steakhouse’s carefully crafted menus are complemented by an extensive selection of cool and crisp beverages, perfect for our tropical weather. We tried three mocktails, including the thirst quenching Cherry Limeade (B129), prepared with sweet cherries, tart lime and a sparkle of Sprite. Fans of smoothies should opt for Coco Berry Smoothie (B119). Bursting with many flavours, this drink is made from a frozen combination of creamy coconut and pineapple juices, blended with strawberry purée. Lastly, the refreshing and fruity Barrier Reef Punch (B119), made from orange, pineapple and mango juices blended with puréed strawberries, is sure to be loved by all kids and adults alike.
