A list of fresh-off-the-runway fashion dos that’ll have you stepping out in style this spring and summer.
1: COLOUR OF THE YEAR
The Pantone Colour Institute has announced that its colour of the year is PANTONE 19 4052 Classic Blue, which will add some timeless elegance to any ensemble. Not sure what shade we’re talking about? Think the sky at dusk, deep ocean waters, or a bowl of blueberries.
If you’re like me and you’ve grown up obsessing over the handmade crochet your grandma used to make you, then you’ll be thrilled to know that crochet is back in fashion this year! Expect everything from crop tops to camisoles and even cardigans.
3: HIGHLIGHTER COLOURS
I once wore a gown to my high school prom that was such an electric shade of orange, I looked like a traffic cone. However, that was 2013 and if I were to wear that out now, I’d be pretty #couture considering neon colours are in this season.
4: BERMUDA SHORTS
Although biker shorts and hot pants thrived in 2019, it’s time to put those cheeks away and embrace the longer length Bermuda style. Whether it’s a resort casual kind of vibe, or going full out business-in-Bermuda with a matching blazer, these shorts are a great way of looking chic while beating the heat!
5: RETRO PRINTS
If you’ve watched The Devil Wears Prada (2006) you’ll know that florals for spring are overdone and uninspiring. So if you’re looking to be adventurous with prints, opt for something 60s or 70s inspired. I mean it. If it doesn’t look like wallpaper, it’s not bold enough!
So we’ve got grandma’s crochet on the list, and now I present you, grandpa’s loafers! New-wave loafers, an upgrade from the classic silhouette, have been spotted at various fashion weeks over the last few months. The difference? These feature chunky heels, textures, chains, and lots of fun accents.
