Looking for comfort food amidst the hustle and bustle of Nana street? Look no further!

Cutting-edge cuisine may have a sizeable place in Bangkok’s ever-emerging food scene, but sometimes all you need is a hearty meal with your favourite comfort food. If that is your current craving, pop by Monsoon, a restaurant and cocktail bar that serves western, Mexican and Thai favourites, piled high on huge plates.

The establishment exudes a relaxed and casual vibe, with an expansive menu that has something for everyone. While the outdoor terrace features comfortable lounge chairs and a street view, the air-conditioned indoor area, adorned with wooden panel boards and large glass windows, is always bursting with fresh, positive energy. High exposed ceilings and large TVs dominate the rest of the interiors, providing the ideal environment to kick back and unwind after work, watch the trending news and enjoy a delicious meal with your family and friends.

Food and Drink

Bring a large appetite as the portions are massive. For a popular starter, try Santa Fe nachos (B280), crispy corn tortilla chips, smothered with green chilli sauce, cheddar cheese, refried beans and jalapenos. The sour cream and salsa atop a heavy mix of savoury ingredients provide a dense texture with well-balanced flavours. Next try the Spicy BBQ chicken wings (B220), served with vegetable sticks and creamy ranch dressing.

The crisp chicken’s natural flavour isn’t overpowered by the mild pungent taste of the dressing. Similar flavours are evident in the BBQ pork ribs (B420), as the slow cooked protein is seasoned with Santa Fe BBQ sauce, adding plenty of zest to the tender meat. You don’t even need ketchup or Tabasco for more flavour!

An order of Fajitas — available with chicken (B320), pork (B320), Australian beef (B480) or fresh tuna (B480) — is a great sharing dish. Served on a sizzling hot plate with sweet peppers and onions, and accompanied by salsa, cheese, Mexican rice and refried beans, it is a journey full of delicious flavours. For lighter fare try the signature Monsoon snapper (B340), as seafood enthusiasts will love the pan-fried fish that makes each bite count. The basil mashed potatoes matches the dish well with its silky smooth texture.

Weight-conscious individuals, however, should sample the other enticing list of alternatives, including the South west grilled chicken (B320). The aromatic Hispanic spices rubbed on the marinated chicken breast, in combination with fresh avocado salsa, sautéed peppers and nacho chips, give the dish a range of spicy and tangy flavours. Another good choice is the Lamb shank (B480) braised with taro mash, mojo tomato shallots and pan jus — a succulent dish that perfectly rounds up Monsoon’s wholesome and hearty meal.

Complementing the food is the signature cocktail Monsoon Passion (B220), a slightly sour and refreshing blend of vodka, triple sec and passion fruit. Those seeking something sweeter should opt for the Mai Tai (B220), a combination of Bacardi, rum, dark rum, amaretto and grenade. There is also a wide variety of beers, wines and spirits for diners craving something a little more traditional to accompany all this comfort food.
