Embark on a culinary journey at Bistro M at Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit Park

By Ashima Sethi

Conveniently located in the heart of Bangkok’s lively shopping and commercial district, on the vibrant thoroughfare of Sukhumvit 24, is Bistro M at the renowned Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit Park. This modern eatery combines the laidback atmosphere of a neighbourhood café with all of the offerings of an established restaurant, dishing up an array of local and international dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a refreshing modern twist.

The restaurant’s subtle and sleek décor complements its culinary ethos, offering a dining room complete with wood panelled interiors, exposed brick walls, tan leather seats and industrial-inspired lanterns, all of which creates an ambience that exudes warmth and comfort. Moreover, the floor-to-ceiling windows face the vibrant street for unrivalled views of Bangkok’s hustle and bustle and the open plan kitchen allows for a glimpse into how each mouth-watering dish is cooked and plated.

As an established name in the city’s dining scene, Bistro M is forging new ground with the help of new Executive Chef Teerathep ‘Tor’ Tishabhiromya who brings with him a wealth of experience working for leading restaurants, hotels and resorts in cities like Melbourne, Phuket, Samui and now, Bangkok. Chef Tor has been working closely with Bistro M’s talented kitchen team to conceptualise an exciting new direction for the restaurant, which is present in the two new dinner buffet themes—the Bistro M Buffet Friday that features fresh seafood, an unbeatable selection of meat carvings and other continental fare for B1,000 and the Saturday Night Thai Food Feast that offers a wide variety of regional Thai fare with a premium barbecue selection for only B900.

Chef Tor’s vision is also present in the new à la carte menu, which covers a diverse range of cuisines such as Thai, Italian and Indian. Some notable dishes include the Linguine ‘Bistro M’, comprising of fresh pasta served with juicy cuts of chicken, sautéed vegetables and an aromatic basil lemon cream sauce, perfect for pairing with the restaurant’s large selection of wine. Another delicious choice is Salmon 5 Spices that combines traditional flavours from Asia and Europe, offering perfectly grilled salmon fillet served with a robust Thai chili paste, tangy lime cream and rich saffron potato purée. For fans of traditional Thai fare, Phad Ka Pao Kae consists of tender wok-fried lamb in a smoky holy basil sauce, an elevated version of a local favourite that is best paired with fragrant jasmine rice. Finally, Khao Niew Ma Muang is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth, combining generous cuts of mango with sweet sticky rice, a light coconut sauce, dried coconut and a fruity mango mousse.

In addition to the diverse cuisine on offer, Bistro M is also an idyllic venue to relax with family and friends over a drink or two. The extensive beverage selection, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, offers something for all guests, whether it be the perfect morning coffee, delicious afternoon smoothie or cocktail sundowner.
