The 2nd annual cricket series between the Malaysian Sikh and the Thailand Sikhs recently at the Kelab Aman Cricket Oval, Kuala Lumpur which was organized by Johor Sikh Sports Club and Kelab Aman. This time it was the Malaysian Sikhs turn to host their counterpart from Thailand. Malaysian Sikhs made a maiden trip to Bangkok, Thailand last year to start the series.
This year the Malaysian Sikhs hosted their guest two game of cricket on Saturday and Sunday. It was an interesting and exciting cricket game evenly contested with Malaysian Sikhs wining the first day and the Thailand Sikhs winning the second day. Players from both teams showed and kept the true spirit of the sport with shining examples of cricket. Though the players from both sides fought hard on the field, what matters most is not victory or defeat but the manner of how the game is played.
On Saturday, we had the honor of YB Gobind Singh Deo, the Minister of Communications and Multimedia to inaugurate the game. YB Gobind Singh Deo introduced to the players and officials accompanied by Dato Dr. Harjit Singh the President of Johor Sikh Sports Club and Datuk Baljit Singh President of Kelab Aman.
The players, officials and guests treated to a grand dinner on Saturday night with speeches from both the representative. Dato Dr. Harjit Singh delivered the speech on behalf of the Malaysian Sikhs where else Jayesh Budhara (Jackson) founder of the YTSA team. Special thanks was also conveyed to Arvinder Singh Sachdev (Vicky) from Thailand and Avtar Singh form Malaysia for initiating and coordinating this series. There was also a presentation of award for the best batsman and best bowler while the exchange of mementos done by both the teams. A strong comradeship built on the field and out of the field over the two days. Next year the Thailand Sikhs will be hosting the Malaysian Sikhs and both the team are looking forward for this annual cricket series again.
